Top 5 Nutrition tips for fighters

As a Muay Thai fighter, you must be worried about your nutrition always, and you should also be. But do you know what are the exact Dos and Don'ts? Read the following five tips to gain some quality knowledge supplement.

1. Don’t skip meals
During Muay Thai training, your body needs a continuous shot of carbs and mineral salts for replenishment. Skipping meals affect the metabolic system of the body. As a result, your body will utilize your muscles as a source of energy instead of carbs and fats.
2. Eat food within regular interval:
In general, a human body can only metabolize a specific amount of calorie per hour. So instead of eating all the food at once, try to divide your food into sections and eat them at frequent intervals.
3. Have a balanced diet:
Being a Muay Thai fighter, your body’s metabolism is supposed to be higher compared to people with a sedentary lifestyle. You need to incorporate a proper balance of carbs, healthy fats and proteins in your diet. For carbs, eat a small portion of fruits, lots of green vegetables and few piece of whole grain bread. For fats only consume monounsaturated fats such as mustard oil, omega-3 oil or dry fruits. For protein, consume chicken breast, egg whites, chickpeas or low-fat cottage cheese.
4. Drink plenty of water:
Always keep your body hydrated. Carry a water bottle with you to your sport or training camp and sip some water in regular interval. During summer, take a sip of water every 20 minutes during the training period.
5. Say no to processed foods:
Processed foods contain high sodium content and preservatives. High sodium raises the blood pressure, which eventually will make you sick. Men or women high-sodium consumption is harmful to you. So, Instead of a cheese slice, have some yogurt instead.
